This is the first of Vivitar's solid catadioptric (lens-and-mirror) extreme telephotos. It is extremely compact (84mm long) and its optical elements - refractive glass and silver-coated mirrors - form almost a solid single element, making the lens virtually shock-proof and eliminating the central "hot spot" found in many such lenses. The lens mounts on the camera by means of T-adapter and has a rotating tripod socket. Number of elements: 9. Angle of view: 4°. Focuses to 7m (23ft). "Stops down" to equivalent of f/16 by means of a neutral density filter. Filter size: 35.5mm (rear mount).
